• What is Velocity's Arcade?

  Velocity's Arcade is a game download service that offers unlimited access to a growing collection of a wide selection of free and open source games — featuring various genres, all without ads or in-app purchases. You can play Velocity's Arcade games on Windows, Linux, and more.

• What games are included?

  Every Velocity's Arcade game is handpicked to bring together a variety of games for all play styles and generations. Types of games include platformers, FPSes, top-down walking simulators, and button-mashing simulators.

  Desktop games are playable on Windows and Linux. Web games are playable across Windows, macOS, Linux, and whatever else supports Firefox or Chrome. GZDoom games require the latest version of GZDoom and a copy of DOOM 2. Freedoom: Phase 2 can be used as a DOOM 2 replacement.

• How often are new games added?

  New games are added whenever I want to add them. To preview upcoming releases, email me and request an unstable developer copy.

• Where do I find Velocity's Arcade?

  You're currently on it. You can enter the Arcade using the button at the top of the page.

• What does it cost?

  It's free! Or you can choose to support me through Patreon.

• What do I need to access Velocity's Arcade?

  • You don't need to "join" it; you can simply download and play Velocity's Arcade games on any of the supported platforms.
  • For Desktop games, you'll need the Godot game engine, at least version 4.1.2, if you want to compile from source.
  • You're free to create your own JSON front-end and download client; the JSON is available at https://velocity-arcade.github.io/library.json.

• Can I play on my phone?

  Not yet, but I do have plans for a "Mobile" category for Android.

  In the meantime, you can still play Web games on your phone.

  Android users can play GZDoom games through Delta Touch.

• Why not macOS?

  Mac development requires a Mac, so, uh, no.

• Can I play with a controller?

  Yes, you can. If you see a controller icon on a game’s entry, the game has controller support. You can use a game controller to play many games in Velocity's Arcade.

• Do these games have any DRM?

  No, absolutely not. Velocity's Arcade games are completely open source and free from any Digital Restrictions Management.

• Is this a parody of Apple Arcade?

  Congratulations, you got the joke.

• What if I want to add a game?

  Contact me at my email, and we can talk about it.

• What if I want to make my own front-end?

  No need to contact me for this one - you can access the JSON at https://velocity-arcade.github.io/library.json.

  Just make sure you respect both the CC BY-SA and GNU GPL 3.0 licenses, since Velocity's Arcade uses those.

• Why isn't Sonic: Lock & Load part of Velocity's Arcade?

  Because:

  1. S:L&L existed long before Velocity's Arcade did.
  2. S:L&L is a separate project entirely, and technically doesn't fall under GZDoom games. (Okay, well, it does, but shut up)
  3. As a Sonic fan game, I can't monetise it, and since Velocity's Arcade is tied to my Patreon offering, that might be seen as monetising off of SEGA's copyright.
